This is my humble effort to reduce my plastic consumption and waste for Zero Waste Week 2019, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.
Many thanks to my husband for purchasing an ethical b'day gift this year.
Any advice from gardeners regarding how to keep my succulent alive would be appreciated?
ENABLE is a UAE National social enterprise based in Dubai.
Enable empowers special young Emiratis with cognitive disabilities by enrolling them in extensive entrepreneurial program.
The skill set delivered will hopefully "enable" individuals with such special abilities to start their own retail units and therefore achieve individual financial sustainability.
As a social enterprise, 100% of ENABLE products will be used to fuel its retail operations with 15% of each product sold will go back to the employee who created it to empower their abilities.

In an attempt to remove plastic from my weekly laundry I have decided to use soap nuts instead of laundry powder.
I hope to find an alternative brand where I can refill laundry softener/conditioner or learn to make my own.
Use 5-7 soap berries for a full load of washing.
Place the bag and berries directly in the washing machine with all your laundry.
Soap berries can be re-used 5-6 times and then disposed preferably in a composter.
Soap berres do not produce much foam.

Over the past 3 years I have discovered, tried and tested many zero waste bathroom alternatives.
Organic Loofah instead of a plastic one
Organic handmade soap instead of hand wash
Herbal Tooth powder instead of toothpaste
Bamboo Toothbrush instead of plastic tooth brush and
Miswaak (cleaning twig made from the Salvadora persica tree)
Organic Herbal Shampoo.
I finally decided to document my beloved mothers red split lentil (masoor) and yellow lentil (moong) daal.
Miss you Mum!

Zero Waste week was founded by Rachelle Strauss in 2008 and began as a National UK Campaign.Campaigns last a week and take place annually during the first full week in September.
The campaign runs predominantly on social media and the website ZeroWasteWeek to reach a community of like-minded people who want to reduce residential or commercial waste, reuse materials and recycle as much as possible. The aim of the campaign is to help householders, businesses, schools and community groups increase recycling, reduce landfill waste and participate in the circular economy – in alignment with European recommendations and Directives.

This month I continued to heal from all my surgeries, raised awareness for Fairtrade Ethical Ramadan 2021 participated in a Wikipedia training session with Whose Knowledge and World Pulse and
was Sister of Ceremonies for the Encourager Party with World Pulse.
This month I continued to heal from all my surgeries, celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight 21 completed my 9th Six Items Challenge with Labour Behind the Label, and
participated in International Women's Day 2021 with The World Fair Trade Organization.
So here I am for the ninth consecutive year participating in the Six Items Challenge with Labour Behind The Label.
This year the challenge commences 17th February - 31st March 2021.
I have decided to participate and support the Six Items Challenge for the ninth year because I started to campaign for garment and factory workers while caring for my mother who had been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
The six items challenge means I choose six items of clothing to wear for six weeks.
