The Bishop taught in the hope that the young men in the area would be given the opportunity to learn a distinctive trade and secure a means of generating income. Apprentices in their mid-to-late teens participate in an intensive three-year vocational training where they master this manual skill. After they have successfully completed their training, these men are responsible for educating the next generation of young men.
