Future Learn - Social Enterprise: Turning Ideas Into Action, Middlesex University Business School

Last year I enrolled on the Future Learn Social Enterprise 'Business Doing Good' course with the Middlesex University Business School and the Jindal Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

I  thoroughly enjoyed the course content and my participation with all the other candidates.

The course was divided into three courses:

1. Social Enterprise: Business Doing Good

2. Social Enterprise: Turning Ideas Into Action

3. Social Enterprise: Growing A Sustainable Business

I completed the first course Social Enterprise: Business Doing Good and learnt what type of social entrepreneur I am.

I also enrolled on the second course Social Enterprise: Turning Ideas into Action.

Lesson 3.11, all participants were asked to submit a video about their social enterprise and enter the International Social Innovation Challenge 2016.

Here are my 3 video submissions.

I was awarded third place and would like to congratulate Palma Milicevic and Emma Butler who were awarded 1st and second places. Thank you to all the candidates who entered and voted for me.

Many thanks to Dr Sara Calvo, Jeremy Wade and all the other mentors.

Best wishes to everyone with their social enterprises.

Fair Trade Pioneers - Rita Verity of Sonia's Smile, Haworth, United Kingdom

On a cold snowy Friday morning during March 2013, I travelled to Haworth with my sister Irem and my beloved mother to visit my Fair Trade Heroine Rita Verity of Sonia's Smiles.

Rita is a well known celebrity in the beautiful village of Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters.

Haworth was declared the first Fair trade Village in the World, 2002.

Sonia’s Smile was inspired by a photograph of a Peruvian girl with a wonderful smile taken in 1992 when she was about 8 years old, the shop was opened in 2001.

Rita met Sonia, during 2005 when making a successful visit to twin Haworth with Machu Picchu Pueblo.
